He hasn’t just denied it. In public statements and at a candidate forum, he’s challenged Chapin’s credibility and suggested the timing is political.

In a KQED interview, Yekutiel suggested the timing was tied to his candidacy — telling the outlet he believes the allegation is surfacing now “because I am here and I’m running for office.” [6]

After the August forum, Chapin told the Bay Area Reporter that he saw Manny’s
response to his allegation as a politically motivated attempt to discredit him — one he said was meant to intimidate him and other survivors out of coming forward. [5]
